On the weekend of the 7th of February, I had the opportunity to spread awareness and knowledge about the work of the UN House Scotland at the Nordic Youth Seminar on Climate and Biodiversity in Sweden. This seminar was hosted by the Danish Youth Council (DUF) as part of the Youth Network NORD project. I had the opportunity to participate on behalf of Norway representing CISV Norway.
The weekend consisted of workshops, panel discussions, and seminars on creating partnerships amongst different organisations across the Nordic countries and engaging in projects about environmental challenges. Participating in different workshops about the importance of Indigenous People’s Rights, how to apply for funding for Nordic projects, learning the tools for sustainable volunteering in organisations, was meaningful for strengthening youth involvement. This seminar inspired collaborative action for environmental challenges, bringing together youth voices from different countries and backgrounds, sharing experiences, and developing more knowledge. This weekend highlighted the importance of and gave space for cultural exchange in terms of spreading awareness, creating tolerance, and facilitating for collaboration and partnerships.
There were around 100 participants from 70 different organisations across the Nordic countries. I had the pleasure of sharing my experience with the UNHS, and all the important work that is done by the organisation. Being able to spread awareness also inspired for collaboration with the UNHS and Nordic organisations.
This weekend was overall meaningful and inspiring in advocating for the importance of collaboration across borders.
