Dear ICAN campaigners and friends,
You are warmly invited to a Parliamentary CND webinar, taking place this Friday, January 21st at 3.00 pm - 4.30 pm (UK), where a new report authored by Dr Rebecca Johnson will be launched.
A year on from the entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), this Parliamentary CND meeting will look at this Treaty’s implications in the UK context.
The meeting, which is hosted by Parliamentary CND, will also launch a new report from CND and the Acronym Institute for Disarmament Diplomacy (AIDD, a member of ICAN’s steering group). Authored by Dr Rebecca Johnson (CND Vice President), the Report is titled Nuclear weapons are banned: what does this mean for Britain? It considers in detail the prohibitions and provisions in the TPNW and the implications of this Treaty for UK nuclear policies, Scotland, NATO and wider aspects of abolishing nuclear weapons.
The meeting will be chaired by Kate Hudson, CND General Secretary, with guest speakers:
Dr Rebecca Johnson, CND Vice-President, director of AIDD;
Julian Borger, The Guardian world affairs editor;
Kirsten Oswald MP, Chair of Parliamentary CND; and
Ambassador Aidan Liddle, UK Disarmament Ambassador in Geneva.
