[ICAN UK] Feminist Disarmament and Treaty-building Webinar


ON THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ICONIC GREENHAM COMMON WOMEN’S PEACE CAMP, JOIN US IN ‘WEAVING THE WEB/INARS’ , an online series of discussions from 27 August to the end of 2021 — talking about disarmament, feminist peace-building, opposing violence against women and girls, Indigenous peoples struggles against nuclear colonialism, and so much more!   • Setsuko Thurlow, Hiroshima survivor and campaigner, who accepted the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN);

  • Ambassador Elayne Whyte Gomez (Costa Rica), who served as President of the UN negotiations that achieved the 2017 Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW);

  • Dr Patricia Lewis, nuclear physicist, former UNIDIR Director and Irish delegate during TPNW;


  • Dimity Hawkins AM, one of ICAN’s co-founders from Australia;


  • Dr Kathleen Sullivan, disarmament educator and co-founder of Hiroshima Stories


  • Moderated by Rebecca Johnson, Greenham Peace Campaigner (1982-87), writer and peace activist
