The Catholic Church and the 2017 Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons

Pope Francis

The Catholic Church has been a leading proponent of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), which 122 states, including the Vatican, voted to adopt at the United Nations in July 2017. It is the first globally applicable multilateral agreement to outlaw nuclear weapons comprehensively.

ICAN has published a small report the Vatican's adoption of the TPNW. To read more about it from ICAN click here.
