A global preparatory meeting in support of the review of SDG 7 at the 2018 UN High-level Political Forum (HLPF) is being held from the 21st to the 23rd of February 2018 in Bangkok (Thailand), by UN ESCAP. This meeting aims to bring together key stakeholders from Governments, UN system and other international organizations, the private sector, and civil society to engage in a dialogue that emphasises on the integrated and cross-cutting nature of sustainable energy and its multiple roles in supporting the achievement of the SDGs. The concept note for the conference can be found here - http://bit.ly/2sHeLPW
Since Scotland has been an active partner in global dialogues around the Sustainable Development Goals, especially climate action (SDG 13) and energy (SDG 7), the United Nations House Scotland (UNHS) and the United Nations Association (UNA) Scotland will be represented by Atishay Mathur at the conference. With climate action and energy being cross-cutting issues, UNHS also aims to host a climate change conference in Edinburgh in the near future. It is therefore, imperative to be informed of the global discourse, and contribute to it too.
In the days to come, Atishay will be publishing a blog-series on our website with regular updates from the global conference in Bangkok. Watch this space for more.
